We took the dogs to Montrose Beach this morning. On the way home we decided to swing by the vet and weigh Juli & Hobbes. At 5 months old, Hobbes is too big to pick up and weigh at home, so stopping by the vet is the only way to measure his progress.
Totals:
Juli – 99 lbs.
Hobbes – 53.5 lbs.
Juli apparently isn’t done growing – she’s put on about 5 pounds over the summer. We have heard that swissies aren’t considered fully mature until 3, so maybe Juli still has a ways to go. We’re also pleased with Hobbes’ progress; every week or two I have to loosen his collar and harness.
Even though he’s getting so big, he’s still a puppy in many, many ways. He’s still losing his puppy teeth; for awhile we were finding baby teeth in his crate every day. Now we’re just waiting for his baby canines to fall out. Also, his back half is growing faster than his front half, which is giving him a funny walk right now. This is very common in large breed puppies, and we just have another year of funny puppy growth to get through before he looks like a real dog.
Don’t worry, he’s still as cute as ever.

Awwww, adorable <3
